Medium: Watercolor

Artist: Aquarelles Sylvie Griselle

One of another series of Sadhu, this time by Sylvie Griselle. These are of rishi, specific to the Himalayas, as opposed to those of Bijendra, who paints those he sees around the River Ganges. Rishi, who live in caves in the mountains, are blessed with long life. Some are believed to have achieved a separation of causal body and astral body. They adhere to a practice of vegetarianism, yoga, and meditation. Each chooses one of the Hindi Gods to worship and as guide. Some believe themselves to be the people who first became “human” in the evolution from the ape. When they began to have speech, intelligence, and will, “humans” came into being as we know them and then they realized that there is a creator and they seek Him.
