Ramesh often visits the marketplaces when he returns to his native India. He searches for art that speaks to his soul. He discovered this piece and the one similar to it from the same artist in two separate stalls. One of the stalls contained the artist himself. Ramesh spoke with him about what each represented. Ramesh saw in each of them an individual searching for the eternal. He was drawn to the "eye" represented by the mirror. For him, this soul was searching without itself into the world and the universe in an attempt to find spiritual awakening.
