Assumption of Mary

It is the belief of Catholics that Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was assumed into heaven upon her passage from this earth saving her from the corruption of the body that all others must endure. They believe that this was possible through the power of the Holy Spirit and at the desire of God, the Father, and her divine Son, Jesus.
Catholics commemorate this belief on the Feast of the Assumption, which occurs every August 15th.
This particular work is a giclée that Ramesh requested from Tim from the illustration in a book of Mysteries of the Rosary to which Tim has contributed. A copy of the book sits on the mantel.
