The fingers depicted in this work are making the symbol of Om, a chant/mantra used in yoga. The stones represent those from which mala beads are chosen. Mala beads are strung together and used to count repetitive prayers ... not unlike the way that Catholics use beads to pray a Rosary. The most spiritual way to create a string of mala beads is to choose the stones personally in a connection to the earth and the creator.
