Mother Teresa - A Study

Medium: Gouache and Pencil

Artist: Tim Langenderfer

When Ramesh Malhotra spread the word that he was interested in artists to paint Mother Teresa, many of them asked how he would like them to depict her. Ramesh told each of them that he wanted Mother Teresa through their eyes. How did each of them see her? What struck each about her that he/she wanted to express? Tim decided to give Ramesh some samples of different expressions of Mother and he created a study.

When he took the study to Ramesh and asked which he preferred, Ramesh thanked him and said he would frame this and display it, and that Tim should go back and paint her the way Tim sees her. Tim protested at the thought of his study being framed and displayed, but Ramesh won out, and both this study and Tim's finished painting are a part of the collection.
