This ornate and elaborate wall hanging is done in the style of traditional Tibetan Thankga paintings. Originating in Tibet between the 7th and 12th century. Thangka paintings were hung in monasteries, family altars and used in ceremonial processions. Their images of deities and various religious scenes were a means to teach other about the life and ways of the Buddha. This beautiful frame of blue, orange and red brocade cloth compliments the richly detailed print that has been filled in with shimmering gold color.

This Tibetan Thankga print with cloth border was hand made in Nepal and purchased in New Delhi, India. Variations and imperfections are reflections of the piece’s handmade qualities and add to its unique beauty.
