Islamic mosques have many features which give the buildings a sense of awe. The domes and turrets are familiar parts of the structure. There is an ornate approach to the places of worship. The interior of a mosque is no different and many mosques have ornate walls, floors, lanterns and decor. There are no depictions of Allah. That would be a great sacrilege. Islamic art of all kinds is based upon patterns and use of light. This lantern is from a mosque in Morocco and it was well-used.
