Some of the Above

David Abraham is a percussionist in the Cincinnati, OH region, active as a teaching artist and performing musician. A native of Portland, OR, David is devoted to honoring the traditional repertoire involving percussion, while seeking new ways to explore the instrument. He has performed with members of revered groups such as Eighth Blackbird, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, and Percussion Group Cincinnati. He has also appeared at music festivals such as the Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival, The Cortona Sessions for New Music, Summer Institute for Contemporary Performance Practice, and The Chosen Vale Percussion Seminar.
A founding member of All of the Above ensemble, David and his contemporary chamber music band-mates serve as the Ensemble-in-Residence at Xavier University. By collaborating with various composers to create new works for the ‘pierrot+percussion’ instrumentation, the ensemble made their international debut as ensemble-in-residence at the 2017 Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy and have also made several appearances at Carnegie Hall. Their debut album, featuring music of Douglas Knehans and Edward Smaldone is scheduled to be released on Ablaze Records
David earned his Doctor of Musical Arts degree (DMA) from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, while previously earning degrees from Central Michigan University (MM) and Portland State University (BM).
Expect him to be very enthusiastic about anything related to Manchester United, The Los Angeles Lakers, The Denver Broncos, South Park, and Metallica.
