Patricia Bellerose

Patricia Bellerose was born in Joliette, Québec, Canada. From an early age, her family encouraged her to draw, create watercolors and engage in other painting mediums. After graduating in graphic design in 2000 from Ahuntsic College of Montreal she worked in the field for few years. In 2006, Patricia began painting with acrylics and gradually moved to oil in 2008. Her first gallery representation started in 2011 and since then, her artwork has been rewarded in many international painting competition. She is a member of Oil Painter of America (OPA). She now exhibits in many galleries across Canada and United States

I acquired my painting skills through practice and reading. My influences are the Impressionist masters, American and Canadian such as the Group of Seven. Painting in Plein Air has been crucial in my learning. It allows color research and help to simplify the composition.

My way of thinking about painting is not limited by subjects and color palette, as my signature lies in the application of paint. I work with oil on canvas or board and paint landscape, still life, portraits and figures. My palette is universal and I use a variety of tools, brushes and spatulas because I believe that every part of the canvas should be interesting for the eyes. When I am painting, I am always looking to inject movement to my subject by working with light and texture in an impressionistic way. Oil is an exciting medium and exploring it every day brings me a lot of joy
